Kubernetes Fundamentals for Cloud Administrators

Transition from VM administration to container orchestration. Understand Pods, Deployments, Services, and Ingress in production AKS.

Written by NTMS Kubernetes Specialist

### From Virtual Machines to Pods

Virtual machines emulate physical hardware with dedicated OS kernels. Kubernetes containers run as isolated processes sharing the host Linux kernel.

- **Pod**: The smallest deployable unit in Kubernetes containing one or more containers sharing network IP and storage. - **Deployment**: Declaratively manages ReplicaSets and rolling updates for stateless application Pods. - **Service**: Stable virtual IP and DNS name balancing traffic across ephemeral Pod replicas.
